    Hi Folks,

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction here before i ring the main dealer...
I've recently had a couple of instances of the clutch/gearbox disengaging whilst driving with the PRNDS flashing in the MFD.

On a scan I am getting the following codes:
28775 - No Communication with Gear Selector Module
    U0103 - 000 - - Intermittent

    and
28775 - No Communication with Gear Selector Module
    U0103 - 004 - - Intermittent

to me it seems the gear selector module (gear stick) is on its way out, but thats to the untrained eye.
If anyone knows the part number for this module it would be great to have! From reading online, a lot of documentation mentions J587, thoguh i presume there will be a 1K... partnumber also..

The car has 145k km (90k miles) on it.
If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to reply.

    Thanks in advance!

    FURTHER UPDATE:

I spoke too soon the DSG fault is back again:

28775 - No Communication with Gear Selector Module
    U0103 - 000 - - Intermittent

Just sitting at traffic lights and got the flashing PRNDS, put in P and stopped engine removed key, started up again and drove on, this has happened whilst the car has been in motion also.
Can anyone help or advise please?
I need the car for day to day use but feel it is unsafe to drive like this.

    TIA.

    Folk,

    Anybody any ideas please?

I had to drive 20km last night and the issue occurred 4 times on the motorway. first time I stopped the car and restarted got 5km down the road and it occurred again, repeated the process, got 2km down the road, happened again, got 500m down the road and got the engine warning light, stopped, scanned cleared DTCs and drove on, got the car home and havent moved it since.

There was a P3007 camshaft sensor also, I've replaced that this morning and re-scanned, but the P3007 error code hasnt gone away.

The gearbox fault codes were as follows, they haven't appered since i cleared them last night:

    Code:
    3 Faults Found:
28775 - No Communication with Gear Selector Module
                U0103 - 000 - - Intermittent - MIL ON

More and more this is looking like an electrical problem but I could really use a steer if anyone can help!

Looking like transmission control unit and j587 gear selector are not talking to each other. You need to check out CAN signals in measured values. If you see no values then wiggle wires to see if they change and then you will know it's wiring. Although I would suspect both CAN signals going would be very slim... so more likely the gear selector module is what's duff. Although could be mechatronics control unit. I don't know what specific channels but there should be something like 256 to go through and see.

J587 do go down by the way. It has to be dropped out from underneath the vehicle.

Just quote the registration. I would spend a lot of time looking at the measured values though to satisfy it is this. You will need a lot of room to drop it out of the car. Split the exhaust system at the sleeve and drop the transmission heat shield to get it out.

    Thanks Flapperjack,
I've spent the last couple of hours looking at the codes & MBVs, doing test drives and clearing codes, the gearbox hasnt thrown any errors and the P3007 has gone away, but i am loathe to think the problem is solved as yet, you can see above that i spoke too soon previously!
I'll play it by ear and see what happens over the next while.

For anyone else who may need to check MBVs I found the list in this post (mods, apologies for the external link, I hope its ok and some find it useful):
