Have the now very well documented suspension problems so I am going to try and replace the seals in the pump first as it seems to cheapest solution.

Yesterday I removed the left hand wheel (UK) and pulled back the plastic wheel liner to get to the pump. There seems to be a lot of other pipework there and I noted a small heat exchanger below where the pump is which I haven't seen mentioned on any of the other threads about this.

Before I do any damage has anyone else done this and can someone tell me what the exchanger is for, it measures approx. 8inches x 5 inches and is mainly metal and its on the lowest part of the frame as you remove the cover immediately behind the left hand fog light.

Two at each side under the wheel arch. Screws along the top under bonnet. 3-4 underneath at the front. Get someone to help you lift it away from the car and put in on something soft. Takes about 30 mins but makes life a lot easier for access to the pump.
