I've successfully retroffited the Memory Button on the Drivers Side, the Seats work, and also the Passenger Mirror, but i can't get the Drivers Mirror working, is there any special coding needed for this?

Hi Andy,

I am thinking about doing this mod. So for the parts for the trim inlays and button is it better (cheaper) to get them from eBay, order them from the dealer or perhaps another third party?

I have VCDS so should be able to do the coding but just need the parts.

In hindsight I should have specced as my wife has a completely different seat position to me. She is 5ft2 and I am 5ft11.

Yes, so the button you can generally get cheaper on ebay if you keep an eye out, but trim I would get from dealer only because a second hand one might have scratches/marks on it etc..

VCDS is all you need for coding correct.

Is it possible that on Cars without Factory Memory, only the Passenger Mirror is Memory capable regarding to the Mirror Dipping on Reverse?

The car is imported from Germany to Norway) and it seems like you know quite a bit about these cars I also have a short wife that drives the car and was quite surprised to discover that it was possible to have electrical seats without memory on these cars and I consider to do a retrofit. I will probably buy VCDS since I want to do other things to the car as well. Is it possible to activate the seat memory with VCDS so it will work with the separate keys or do I need to buy the buttons to make it work? I don't need the buttons if it's possible to have memory related to the two keys (as I had on my previous car). If i need the buttons, then it's only the aluminium panel and the button I need? I have a left hand drive so I believe the button is part 4M0959769A?

Hi Larserso

Congrats on the car. Yes, you do need the buttons to get the intial stored "position" for the seats, but then VCDS can help enable it so its stored on the keys for the future. However, you need to be sure you have the Seat Modules on the underside of the seats (Modules 06 and 36 in VCDS) as they are critical for memory seats to work. As its a 2016 year they "should" be there, but I've seen on newer Q7 4M's that didnt come with memory seats, these are missing.

Get a couple of photos of under your drivers seat, attached to the underside should be a black box with cables coming out of it. If its there great, if not.. you need to add it (plus a loom into the seat).

That is the seat control module so your all good. Just need to add the buttons in the door, new trim and a bit of wiring + coding and your good to go.
