It all started back in December.....the ASC and EM lights came on and the car was driving really rough, struggling to get up the gears, was shaking and sounded like it was misfiring. Called the AA and they diagnosed with the following fault code using Bosch diagnostics: System: Engine control 1 -72P / Diesel EDC 15P464A - Solenoid valves for engine mounting. Error Message: Short to B+.469A- Valve for unit injector, cy;. 1. Error Message: Circuit defective.

The AA advised injector 1 required replacement and cleared the codes. Following clearing of the codes I took the car to a garage. As the car was not showing faults I was advised to continue driving it until it developed again. When it did I was advised to try fuel additive to help clear the system, as it could be a fuel issue. However, the problem continues and I am now being advised to replace injector 1. When the issue occurs I can pull over (sometimes tricky to achieve!), switch off the car for a few seconds and it will all reset with no symptoms....until it develops again - however seems to be developing quicker and more regularly now. My query is - how can I be sure a new injector will resolve the issue (they are pretty expensive for trial and error!)? If the injector was faulty then surely the symptoms should show all the time and not intermitently?

The car has covered 150k miles and if I can get through this will do many more!

Any advice would be appreciated as would contacts for reasonably priced injectors!

    Many thanks, Dave

I doubt its the injector if you can turn the engine off and back on again, and all is fine.
Take it to a specialist for better advice.

Thanks for comments. Ive been digging around some other threads and watched a few youtube videos - fingers seem to be pointing at the harness. Car is booked into garage on Monday so will bring it to their attention before changing any injectors. Some suggest testing the harness but at around £50 for a new one it seems sensible to just stick a new one in. I travel the same routes daily and ive noticed the fault seems to appear at the same area each day.....which suggests it could be linked to oil temps in harness?? Also if I accelerate hard and more often it will develop quicker. Will see what happens on monday and hopefully update with positive news....until then I'm the guy in the A4 driving conservatively with no eratic moves!!

New injector harness installed today (genuine Audi parts @ £75 plus £80 labour from private garage - Audi wanted over £500.00...) Had a nice long drive this evening and no issues....looking promising so far!! Will update if the issue returns. Thanks for your help.
