    Hi,

Got a strange issue with the A3 1.8. The hazard lights came on randomly and now won't turn off! The lights are flashing faster than usual as well which is weird. I have disconnected the battery for now but does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? If I pull the fuse for the hazards my indicators still work fine...

    Cheers!

In the olden days flashing faster usually meant an indicator bulb was blown on the side that flashed faster than normal
It sounds like the hazard lights have a separate "flasher" unit and that has failed - possibly because of water ingress - it is almost always water
Good luck as these units are always tucked away in places that the normal adult human hand will not fit

I thought the flasher unit for both hazards and indicators were in the hazard switch itself... But flashing rapidly aside, why would they come on by themselves in the first place?

It is USUALLY the hazard switch but not always, sometimes the column switch. The hazard is easy to change so we always do that first.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try and clean out the switch first and see if that sorts it.
