    Hello,

I am looking at replacing my front discs and pads, 360mm. I recently replaced the rear pads with Pagid, which I think are OEM.

ideally I want grooved/drilled discs and some decent pads, that are more efficient and effective than OEM (especially at motorway speed).

My big issue is insurance, I don't want this to be invalid, I just want to feel a bit safer and will consider OEM discs but decent pads.

What do you have or think will work for me

or trw dtec pads and discs, or zimmerman discs, ebc red or yellow stuff pads on ebc turbo discs, or tarox discs, or black diamond... heck,, theres a lot of choice, depends whats available for your car/. i had the trw's on my s4, they are low dust and worked very very well. even on a track they held up and took some abuse, on the zimmerman discs.

Thanks. These ferrodo pads costs £71 a pair, not sure if there the best at stopping though

BTW my 2005 4.2tdi sport engine is the 240kw version and the brake code is 1LL

thats cheap, my s4 had the brembo 19z calipers from a q7, the pads would have been 300 quids. they are race pads though, so yes, will be very good at stopping you.

So are the grooved and drilled disc out of the question? Sure this design feature would help a car with the braking. I think most modern cars have efficient brakes and you can't tell until you have to use them in an emergency that they really work, but for my peace of mind, I would prefer sharper brakes, that you really notice.

So far I am liking the Zimmerman discs, but unsure about pads.

drilled or grooved or both, they dont make the braking any better. they allow the gas that builds up during braking to escape, thus preventing fade. zimmerman are very good, the sports with the holes, thats what i had. if the ds2500 are only 70 odd squids, then thats what i would go for. they work well from cold as well. mind you, i was well happy with the trw dtec.

I think the Zimmerman ones are £105. But just 360mm vented, the speeds

The brake replacement are more for the higher speeds, so speed limit to say 30mph, rather than snake pass (twisty roads) where the brake heat and fade come into question.

I think brakes and tyres keep you on the road, so tyres are good, just want to improve the brakes s bit.
