Hello all, I hope my question can be answered as my Audi is not as it should be. I have an Audi A3 2L TFSI 2005 which is great apart from the temperature gauge seems to be possessed! It reads low even after a journey and occasionally it read 90 degrees then drops to around 70 degrees. The fan comes on almost straight away and the fuel consumption is poor as is the performance.? I am thinking it could be the temperature sensor but I put a fault code reader on tonight and no faults were found. Do you think it would be worth changing the temperature sensor? and where is it located?

    Looking forward to your replies,

There might not be a code logged, best way would be to run live data with a higher spec OBD diagnostic tool or VCDS, failing that just changing the temp sender would be a relatively cheap part to chuck at it and see. It should be on the right hand end of the engine, maybe tight to get to with the battery in the way. It will probably have a green end on the sensor. Use a genuine VW part and get a new o ring and horseshoe clip and bottle of G13 coolant additive.
