    Hi guys,

its been around a month since i have had my 2015 vw polo 1.6 TDi serviced at VW.

Having looked at the invoice, they had used 0w30 oil on this service whereas the previous service they had used 5w30 oil ? confused.

Have they used the wrong oil this time.

Is 0w30 the right oil for this car ?

    Thanks
    Cameron

Either 507.00 is correct , the 0W30 will be Shell Helix .

    thank you for your reply,

What i don't understand is why would VW use 5w30 on the first service and then use 0w30 on the other service ?? baffled.

Surely it makes sense to use the same grade of oil on each service to prevent two grades of oil mixing. As we all know when ever you carry out an oil change, its impossible to drain 100% of the oil and there will always be some traces of the old oil still remaining in the sump pan.

What oil would be best for the car 0w30 or 5w30 ? I always thought 0w30 is too thing to provide any protection.

    They're both the same grade , and around 12 Centistokes @100 °C .

VAG use 6 507.00 LongLife oils , Genuine , Castrol Edge , Quantum , and 3 Shell Helix , the Shell is technically more advanced as the group 3 oil basestock is derived from gas rather than crude oil giving a purer product .

The Shell Helix Ultra ECT 0W30 is also a C2 .

    Thank You for your reply.

With the 2 different viscosity of oils, what would be better 0w30 or 5w30

    Thanks

Technically the 0W30 because it is also a C2 which improves fuel economy by an alleged 2.6% , this is achieved by extra friction modifiers in the additive package.

You can get 5W30 C2 as well like Mobil 1 ESP Formula.
