I have had this couple times now and it's no short of scary... first time there were no errors and i took it to a local VW specialist. It has happened again last weekend and this time i got several errors, mainly intermittent and to do with fuel pressure regulator. I booked the car in for week after next and was wondering what could be the issue here?

Any hints would be welcomed. Thx

the code is probably because its running out of fuel, possibly because the side of the saddle tank it picks up fuel from has run empty.

Maybe gauge is lying and tank is actually empty? how many litres can you get in when you fill it from a 1/4 tank?

It has happened en route to the airport and i left it with my dad who filled up the tank :-(... i will need to check with him.

Something that's very odd is why does it stall... could it be the issue with a regulator or a fuel sender... that's bugging me. Is there a way of checking this?

Mines been off the road for the last 7 months and simply won't start

    I've replaced:

    FPR
    HPFP
    FPS
    Lift pump in tank
    Fuel pressure valve
    Relays x 2

And I've got kosher full version of VCDS that doesn't throw up any faults

Doesn't sound promising... i do recall after the major service was done i've heard some noise coming from the fuel pump. Albeit car drives absolutely fine and no errors i still cannot get to the bottom why it stalls at 1/4 of a tank. Equally no obvious signs what the culprit is.!!?

This may seem like a stupid question but have you tried putting more fuel in?

I ask because I'm having the same issue on my 2005, heres what I know.

    not had the car long

Set off at pace- car stalled- glow plug lights- 1/4 of fuel.
School run next day ok on the way there - came home and it was dying - air in fuel lines.

Suspected major failure, lots of money
It took me a few days to suss out it just needed more fuel to run

Scanned and the exact same 3 fault as OP codes cam up.
Made a tool pulled sender units and main pump side is full to brim - other side is empty. pump works and jet pump seems to be working but it keeps draining the passenger side tank (RHD) into the drivers.

the main pump pulls its fuel from the p/s tank into the bucket in the bottom of the D/S sender unit tank. once the fuel in the D/s tank is below the level of the bucket and the P/S is empty (1/4 tank)the pump stops getting fuel- car stalls.

The sender is £350 Audi only and Only one type will fit the 3.0tdi so not of the many on ebay will fit to test.

Not sure if I need to pull the 3 sender in the boot and test to see if it decides the level?

My tank is full and I've confirmed this by pulling the covers off both side of the saddle tank.

There is a fuel tank sender repair kit, I had this repair done 3 years ago and no problems since, the repair kit was circa £30+VAT

Do you mind me asking where did you get the repair kit from?

Fyi - the first time i noticed this issue was when fuel filter was replaced by the garage after i bought the car... i was hearing regular "barble" from the tank for a week or so before it settled.
