    Hi All

I got my letter from VW a couple of weeks ago to advise that they've got a software fix ready for my car for the emissions problems across all vw tdi's

Has anyone had it done? if so noticed any issue with the software update, loss of power, torque problems?

Do owners have to have the software update applied?

    Thanks

Anyone got any thoughts - if and when the car comes to be re-sold, a non updated car vs. an updated car. I would think any prospective buyer who really wanted it doing could still go to a dealer some years down the line and get the fix applied.
Is it possible that in future, cars not logged in DVLA or dealer databases as having the fix applied could be separately taxed higher.
My FIL's 2 litre 2013 Yeti has been recalled and I've advised him not to do it. He will probably keep the car till it is virtually worthless anyway, but the way diesel demonisation is going I wouldn't be surprised if punitive taxation is brought in on non updated cars.

It ain't broke so why fix it? I am strongly telling my customers not to have it done and that if they do and it plays up, don' t come crying to me when VW can't fix it as all I will do is reverse. The whole thing is a farce, the authorities and VAG should have just brushed it off as a mistake and got on with making it not happen again. One point is that in three years time all the affected cars and any other cars fuelled by the Devils own urine are going to be worthless anyway when the T charge zones start to be instrodued and applied to private cars.

I'm tending to think that way, and speculating on resale is pie in the sky as D day approaches!

    Of course not,

me coming from an IT engineer background to, we use the same saying.

However in my business we always look to apply software / firmware updates, although we to come across updates that don't work....not knowing much about car electronics myself made me think on the side of caution. As we say, if you don't know, just ask
