Does anyone have a handy retrofit guide for any of the kufatec retrofits or similar? Putting this into a 2012 a7. I bought a controller unit off ebay germany used and new camera and loom from vag navi-systems. Looking at the wiring loom now there is a couple of extra pins etc i need to figure out where to connect them too etc., I should be able to do all work except maybe the calibration myself. Any help would be appreciated for fitment advice. A few pics of what i have to put together

    Control Unit

    Camera

    Wiring loom

    Thanks
    Dan

Hi, thanks for that, i did see that one while searching, im sure it covers most of the info.I'm wondering if anyone actually could share the Kufatec one or similar. Its just the few stray crimped wires that im currently unsure of.

OK, this is a C6, but my C6 has retrofitted 3GP, so you will get an idea of where the pins go. http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads...211351/page-12

I know I'm biased (I wrote the how to) but the Kufatec instructions are rubbish! They gloss over a lot of important details and the bits they do cover aren't written very well.

There aren't that many wires so it should be easy to identify the strays. The camera has power, ground and video connections and the controller has power, ground, can high & low, camera video in and Mmi video out.

It looks like you've got a complete wiring loom in the pictures - the video cable with green (fakra?) connectors on both ends goes to the camera and the other one goes to the Mmi unit (the bare wires fit into the multiple behind it). The loose wires on the end of the controller's multiplug cable connect it to power and can bus (twisted pair is can), plus the two pin plug to power the camera.

Thanks for the useful info Dave, so based on your last post and what the stickers on the packaging say. This is what i figured, im hoping its correct:

Based on the length of the can bus cables i presume this is somewhere in the boot area?

    That looks about right.
There's a big CAN bus breakout plug in the right hand side of the boot near the rack the controller goes into - use that one.

Access is pretty limited in the a7 bootspace

so ill probably have to remove the carpet trim section to be able to properly mount the new control unit and run the wiring up the drivers side to the MMI unit

The A6 isn't much better. Taking the trim apart is slow and painful but the job is extremely difficult without doing it!

Yep, there doesn't seem to be an easy way around it! Just need to figure out how they come off without breaking any clips etc, slow and steady wins the race! I need to find a spot to stash the trim panels in too as they will only get damaged left in the car etc. Thanks for the tips so far
