Many thanks, needed to recover the car to my home today, but before i did i though i would try some easy start, it fire up and ran the 20 mile journey fine, there is a slight occasional miss on idle, but when revs are up its a sweet as a nut, no excess diesel smoke on start or running, i have committed to the tandem pump and collect one in 30 mins, have not pressure tested yet as i am struggling to find someone who has a tester i can borrow, but in my thinking, being as there is no excess unburnt fuel smoke on the start or running ( and it had a lot of cranking before ) i doubt it is anything like a dripping / leaking injector .... and feel the pump is just too weak on the start up, but when running and producing more pressure, sweet ? i will hopefully fit tomorrow and update again, thanks rob

It does seem as though the pressure is low and the tandem pump would be a possibility and I guess if you are committed to it then there is no harm is trying!, something else to consider though are small splits or pin holes from the lift pump to the tandem pump and injectors from worn hoses or joints,
In other words air in the system which will create low pressure.

    Do keep me posted

Small update, been out tonight and fitted new tandem pump, quite warm tonight. took 1 1/2 hrs, not bad i thought being as i only had an old style 240v lead lamp that was emitting most of its light into my eyes !
I will post again tomorrow, bit unsure now though as still seems to idle a bit shaky, although thinking about it, when i owned it 35000 miles ago, it always annoyed me a little bit when you stopped at traffic lights ect it seemed to not idle 100% smooth, hoping its completely un-related ? Let see if it starts tomorrow ? ? Thanks rob
