    Hi all,

Hope someone can give me some clue on where to start looking

Used car yesterday, started no probs, got home parked, approx 3pm
got in car at approx 4.20pm car wont start.... no hint of life...?

    Battery level indicator showed 100%
cant hear if starter motor is trying... but it did click, though not every time.....

Battery level today was showing 0% on the lowest bar of the level indicator....
wont jump start, battery seems to be struggling to charge.. the only thing I have not tries is the bump start...

Battery is just over a year old, but struggling to understand what drained it overnight....?

Any clues... on what to try...?

    Thanks in advance

Have you checked voltage of battery should be 12.5 volts at least. Checked Battery leads and earth leads to chassis and engine. Then you need to check starter leads and T.15 (small wire) to the starter. It could be any one of the suggestions. Or, of course a faulty starter.

    Hi thanks for your response,

yes checked the battery.... its been on the car over 1 year... suspecting the starter....
would any of these things just suddenly 'go' without any warning etc...
theres been no problems starting it, no warning lights recently etc....

    Thanks

Nippy I had a brand new battery fail after a week on my profile car earlier this year...it had a 4yr warranty so just returned it for a replacement.

That should be your first post of call, if you've checked the battery what was the voltage under load? Also what was the output from your alternator?

Oh, it would help if you put your year/engine/transmission in your signature strip, that way you'd not need to state in your posts

I did say to check your ignition live at the starter, may have saved you a job.

    Evening,

    Thanks for the responses.......
It was one of the connector plugs/sockets that for some reason wasn't locked in, in the first place.... The old starter motor was dead..... It was on checking all the connections that the plug contacts was not making contact..... Stupid....simple but have a running car now coincidence it went wrong all at once

    Thanks all
