    Heya guys,

I have bought a 2005 audi c5 allroad with factory fitted RNS-E a few days ago and I have noticed that the FM radio stations don't seems to be picked up very well. They are all greyed out apart from BBC Radio 1 and sometimes I get the odd one that will highlight and I can select like BBC Radio 3 or Heart. On the manual tuning if I scan i find nothing and if i tune it manually to the frequency of the stations I know then they pick up ok. Maybe not perfect signal but ok. Close enough as to I would think it would find it on an auto scan.

It also has a load of stations lower down the list that seem to be a random muddle of letters that aren't greyed out but you can't select them??

Before O started driving the car I did buy a new Maps disc off of ebay with the 7 digit post code entry so I was wondering if this non official disc has messed with it? I think it worked ok before this? Can't really remember. I think it did because I went through saving my favorite stations to the memory.

    Please help

Update. I thought id be able to downgrade the firmware to the origonal disc to test but I need a registered version of vag com to do that. Might just register it as I was to adapt a few other things too.

I also went onto the engineering mode of the RNS-E and when in that I can tune the radio perfectly fine. So that would suggest all the hardware is working ok. Right?

I managed to install the old firmware onto the rns-e using vag com using this method. Need an activated version though.

    - exit VAG-COM
    - insert the old DVD that contains the software you want to downgrade to
    - wait until the RNS-E finishes the update (starts a few seconds after inserting the DVD, will reboot twice and then power off)
    - connect with VAG-COM to #37 channel 97 and save the value of 0
Now the radio works as it should. But obviously I still want the features from the new disc. But that's a new problem.

At least I know its the software on the disc though.
    Case closed
