    Hello everyone,

I've had my Audi for around 6 months now and seem to have had problems with it ever since I bought it. The car is an 59 Plate Audi A3 2.0 TDi S-Line Black Edition (Automatic DSG) the 170 BHP one.

The car will randomly judder, more common in higher gears, just like I've tapped on the brake. Or if I'm pulling out at a junction for example and step on the accelerator nothing will happen for a couple of seconds like it's cut out (all other electronics stay on fine) then it will just spring back to life and go (doesn't happen every time, but far too often).

I've had it taken to a "VAG Specialist" who done me a full service (DSG flushed also) then sent it to be scanned, resulting in an ABS Pump failure (this was replaced and scanned again). The chap who scanned said that there are spikes of low voltage. He also advised me that the aftermarket stereo that's fitted could potentially be causing the problem (haven't yet checked this out, but could that be true?).

Whether this is relative to the same problem or not I haven't any idea but often an ESP Fault will display on the trip computer then randomly go off after a few minutes.

The car has had no engine modifications or remapping done to it. I'm desperate to get this problem resolved so I can sell it as the car is just sat on the drive after purchasing a Seat Ibiza Bocanegra a couple of months ago.

I massively appreciate any help or advice on this.

    Thanks,

    Stephen

That sounds to me like it's your EGR valve. My prospective mother in laws 2010 1.6tdi Jetta, was doing similar. Loss of power at times, she'd take off at junctions and it would just cut out, but restart and drive as normal or she'd be driving along then sudden loss of power and it would cut out, then restart and drive as normal, it didn't have all the time but it would be frequent and it was her EGR valve.

Now perhaps i'm wrong and i stand to be corrected, i'm sure there's a few on here who might of experienced the same but turned out to be something else. But that's what it sounds to me.

You know what, I never actually thought of it! Thanks for that, it could be one more thing to tick off the list, I just hope it's the culprit to save the £££.

I'll get it looked at as soon as I can and will be back with the news.
