So had an early annual service this year (June instead of oct) as I knew I'd be busy and struggle to get it in. All has been fine until last week where it said it needs a service. I've done 10k since June and the bloke at Audi said it's because it should be serviced every 10k miles! I could smell the bull S*** down the phone. Anyone know what it could possibly need now?

It's done 43k and I've serviced it every year at the 12 month point apart from this year which was early. Small service, major service and vice versa all the way through, ignoring the 24month long life servicing rubbish.

Any belts or anything need doing? They want £400 and I can't see why.

Your service regime sounds good, any chance they didn't reset the schedule on the mmi in June?

have you changed your gearbox oil which is "sealed for life"?

M1tchy, I assume that you are doing about 16k miles each year, then you cant be on 10k service intervals otherwise the service reminder will have reminded youearlier in previous years. I do about the same mileage and stick to the 10k service intervals because I will be keeping the car for a long time. Remind me of your annual mileage or better still when you bought the car.

I normally do 12k a year but that's risen this year as I now work away from home and have to commute. Not had a gearbox oil change, they tried getting me to do that at 33k but after asking on here seems it's sealed.

I've had the car New since oct 13.

Sounds like the Service scheme had been changed to annual/10k miles in the car at the last service?

ok, so oil service at 12k miles Oct 14, inspection at say 24k miles Oct 15, oil service at 33k at Jun 16, and now that it has done 10k miles more at 43k, it says I need servicing again, so the next one should be a now.

But as Jay nana says, it is difficult to tell if you are on fixed which is every 12 months or 10k miles whichever comes sooner, or variable which is about every 19k miles or 24 months. You service regieme is closer to 12 months or 10k miles, so lets assume that is the case and your first 2/3 services were done a little late.

The big question is how long will you keep the car? If only a few more years or less than 100k miles, then switch to variable servicing which means every 19k miles or 2 years. If more than 100k miles then stick to every 10k miles. I say this because engine parts are very expensive and if long term reliability is important then more frequent oil changes are important.

I do find this Audi servicing very confusing, at least with my last car (BMW) I knew what was getting done and when!
I believe I am on the variable service (it says flexible on the records)

I last had a service just before 40k, which had oil, pollen filter, fuel filter and air filter done (the air filter wasn't actually on the schedule but was done anyway).
I'm now at around 52k, and the car is saying it wants an oil change in around 3k miles so when it's at 55k. Ok, that seems fair enough, albeit not quite the 19k miles it is usually supposed to last?

But, its' then saying that within 8k miles of that oil change it wants an inspection service, so at around 63k off the top of my head. What are they going to want to do with the car then? It shouldn't need an oil change...surely? No doubt they'll try to charge me for one, though

    what is this inspection service?

i haven't come across those in the last one year of ownership.. can't remember seeing them in the documentation either..

without varied inspection schemes in fact i thought this was much simpler than the bmw scheme

    If only we knew lol.
I think they just have an oil change service which is what it says on the tin, then an inspection service which basically gives them free reign to tell you what they need to service...which is why I much prefer the CBS system that BMW use as at least I know what I'm getting! Saying that, they do say to change filters every x times it goes in...but at least this information is fairly readily available and quite transparent.

On further digging, it seems that on the A7 Tiptronic you have:
Every 20k/2 years - pollen & dust filter
    Every 40k - fuel filter
    Every 60k - air filter
Every 140k then 20k - DPF ash reading
After 3 years, then 2 years - brake fluid

Thats all you have. Then I guess a fixed or variable oil change?

So this inspection service it wants to do at around 63k I can only assume will be for a pollen/dust filter, since I've already done the air filter at 40k.
So basically would be a waste of a visit!

    Shrugs.

So went in today to an independent audi specialist. I'd got the wrong day and was a week early but they did it anyway. They did a long life service (was only £20 more than the normal major service it went in for) but I'll get it serviced in 12 months anyway.

Apparently there is a different grade of engine oil for those on long life cycles.

They did the fuel filter and a major long life service for £275. Seems my rear pads are extremely low and have less than 1k miles left. They are having it back next weekend to change and upgrade them to brembo pads. (Do the rears not have wear indicators?)
