Right then people, house move in final steps so really want to start sorting my options for my Avant and remap out. I want to look into borrowing someones expertise on vcds on my avant and sorting some of the trick bits out in the menu. Reversing dipped mirrors and other bits (there was a list on the a4 thread of all the different options you can activate and want to know and activate what options are available for mine) Will finally have a driveway on which to work so food/beer money can be negotiated.
Next on the list is local places for a remap. I want to a decent remap and not just a cheap generic map that will encounter problems later on. I was originally planning a run to AmD down south primarily because of their rolling road setup before and after but after seeing a thread on an 3.0tdi A8 i was considering the Derby Remapping place but wondewred if anyone else knows of where to go?
    Cheers people.

It may be useful if you shared what type of remap you're looking for?

    Typically there are 3 flavours

economy 12-15% more power (I have this)
    mid - 15-20% more power
    power - 20%+ more power

Plus there's any of the above with either DPF/EGR/swirl flap delete (or indeed all 3)

Without what your looking for people can't really offer advice

My bad i thought all rempas were a basis for more power but equalled fuel savings aswell. If it came down to it id like more power basically. On the DPF side im not sure if my engine has got one. Id have to know where to check on my engine/chassis code for that. So id have to start there for info. again even on the vcds side witht the options my green menu isnt enabled so never been able to get it up let alone choose the options with the vcds.

It's clear you need to do a lot more reading on remaps!

If it's an A6 C6 from an 08 plate onwards it will have a dpf

IIRC '7GN' as a code on your sticker means no dpf, 7GG means you have one.

Also if yours is automatic you need to ensure that your fluids have been changed in line with ZF's guidance so 80k miles and then every 50k for a tiptronic and 38k miles for a multitronic. A manual every 100k

My eco remap didn't affect my insurance premium, a midrange would see an increase of 20%, full power circa 35%

As to getting one specifically for your car you may find that they start with a base/ generic map and tweak from there.

Right I will have to double check my codes tomorrow then for the dpf. I plan on having the fluids etc done soon anyway so that's not a problem. As for the remap then I will have to have a scout round and chat with a few places for specific requirements. I just thought that someone on here could recommend a local place and a vcds user.
