    Hi All,

I have managed to spend approx 1.5 weeks drying my car (3 inches of water in the rear footwells!) by having all the carpets up and exposing the insulation.

I removed the drain plug under the battery and took the pollen filter housing off, cleaned it up, re-sealed it, replaced etc. I still have water getting into the footwells!

Both sides were wet yesterday after rainfall - any idea where else this was coming from? It seemed to be only in the foot wells right underneath the dash, so not coming in through the doors. Anywhere else it could be? I'm tempted to just attack everything under the bonnet with silicone!

    Thanks.

Bonnet cable grommet and ECU seal or windscreen if it isn't the door seals .

Thanks - I did think of attacking the bonnet cable grommet with silicone so will do that. My windscreen plastic bit that slots into the windscreen has about an inch on the driver's side where it isn't connected, could it be getting in there somehow? Was planning on siliconing that down.

You say rear footwells then imply only front. If the drain under the battery and under thr servo are clear then water can't get into the front left floor from below the filter housing but it can drip down from the screen trim directly onto the filter, but that won't get into the right. Sunroof model? I would be taking all the door supports out, wire wheeling the lower area to remove the rubber seal and re-seal using Butyl cord, please don't use Gorilla snot...

rear footwells was pre- me doing the work, now it's only front footwells directly under the dash (both carpets are still up, no seats in the car currently) The foam bit that backs onto the bulkhead is soaked so assume the water is getting inside via that.

Gorilla snot? The hair cream? 99% sure it's coming from below the dash at the front, as all the carpet is still up and literally only wet under there, no water on the side near the doors etc.

Gorilla snot is what I call silicone sealant when it's smothered all over the place, horrid stuff.

On back order with VW, and no idea when they'll have them in. Guess I'll make my own instead.
