Hey, new to this forum, and recent Audi convert. I have a 2009 RS6 Avant, and getting a couple of errors coming up, couldn't find relevant posts so hoping someone may be able to give a clue as to what may be going on?

    - Getting ESP + Park brake fault coming up in combination after approx 5 mins driving, which then doesn't allow the cruise control to work, and Park brake wont engage unless you turn engine off.
    - Getting low dip fault also, not sure if these are connected?

any help appreciated, i dont have access to any diagnostic tools, unless i head to dealer 400km away..

You need it scanned; find someone in NZ with VCDS. As well as checking the Audi / VW forums, don't forget the Skoda and maybe even the Seat forums. Or buy it yourself and post the results here for some help. Steer clear of the EBay specials and get a genuine cable. Good luck.

ESP and parking brake are usually the first things to report errors if you have a battery on the way out.

With A 2009 it could still have the original battery fitted that'll be coming up on 8yrs old, check that first.

And as Inspector says, get a kosher VCDS cable as it'll pay for itself within a year.

if you cannot get it scanned, check battery for dud cell(s) and alternator output under full load, full headlights on & heater going full blast. Alternator should be 14.5 volts, or over 14.0 at least

Battery with engine running should also show 14.3 volts .................. you will get a slight drop, no more than 0.5 volts or you have a fault ......................... jump start terminal under bonnet if warm or very hot can cause resistance

In fact, in my car these were the first systems going down and the failure was the coolant sensor that went to -40 (found out with a regular OBD2 scanner, not the VAG Cable...

get it scanned to see why it is entering in a fail safe configuration

Thanks all for your comments, ended up being a couple of wires had worn through, so relatively simple fix.

Geo, it may help the community (and anyone with a similar fault manifestation) if you actually shared where the worn wires were

ESP & EPB maybe caused by a worn brake loom, however the dipped beam would be sommat different.

    Headlight range fault:
Rear sensor wiring open circuit - wiring damaged. Repaired and tested - OK
    ABS fault :
Right rear sensor circuit issue. Swap sensor to front to check - OK. Wiring on rear damaged - repaired and
    tested - OK
    Park brake fault:
Intermittent communication fault with ABS. Cleared codes and appears to be working - could have been
