    Hello,

went to Brummy from Manchester and back and the average mpg indicated as 41mpg.

On a similar journey with my A6 2.7 tdi front wheel drive, I remember it to be around 40mpg.

yes there was road works and loads of traffic, but this can't be right for a 4.2 tdi v8

probably a bit optomistic, need to do a brim to brim to get it more precise.

Might be right - I used to crack 40 occasionally with a 4.0tdi on long trips where cruising a bit under motorway speed limits owing to traffic... As Zollaf says, brim-to-brim is the only way to be sure but I'm not so stunned by your figure as to immediately disbelieve it if you know what I mean.

    Thanks guys I agree,

I should do a brim to brim to get accurate reading, I am sure the book say max at 39mpg?

anyway not bought the car for economy, its an effortless motorway cruiser, with a few gadgets and good safety, it Brought a big smile on my face.

in fact I would say it gets close to my d2 s8...its that good.

Fantastic, that was the older engine, mines is supposed to be lighter and more fuel efficient.

also I had the window open and heated seats on part of the way, so could have saved more fuel

The computer will always be over optimistic.

although 70% of journey was doing 50mph, I did get to 70+mph for 25% of the journey and the remaining 5% was local.

Around town I am getting 14 to 19mpg
