    Hi all,

So i got the car a few weeks back and have out in around £120 of fuel, each trip to the fuel station was £30 of Shell V-Power. The engine by the way is a 3.0TDI

Now on my last refil i decided to use no heated seats and i was very light on the acceleration, sometimes waiting for a larger gap in traffic just to pull out easier. My absolute peak for town driving is 86-87 Miles per £30 of fuel. I assume this tank could take £90 of fuel to fill which translates to 260 Miles per tank! Is this right? If anyone could reply with their known miles once filled that would be great to compare.

    Many Thanks..

My wife gets about 350 to 370 miles to a tank from our 2007 3.0tdi and she's a mobile nail technician so doesn't go far

You don't buy a Q7 for fuel efficiency. Especially the pre facelift like yours

Yeah but 260 miles from a tank full isn' right!

I have one of the last 'pre-facelift' models, 3.0 TDI, and get anything between 500-550 miles mixed driving.

I didn't realise he was getting that low of mpg. At 260 miles that is low.

The lambda sensor or maf could be at fault

Over the past 4 years my 2006 3.0TDI averages 30mpg on pretty short journeys (50-60 miles per day max). On a long motorway run it might creep to 34-35mpg if driven gently. Thats as good as it gets.
Obviously its a big heavy car but I had an A8 with the same engine that always averaged 40mpg and often more.
The issue with the Q7 is low gearing.
The later 2011 models have 8 speed autos that are much better for economy. However, according to my "man maths", you can buy a lot of fuel for the price differential between a 2006 and a 2011.

My 4.2 FSI gets anywhere from 9mpg to 20mpg depending on how much of a hurry I am in and the length of the journey. as others have said, I didn't buy a 4.2 V8 petrol Q7 for it's economy.
I stopped worrying about MPG when the smallest engine in my fleet of cars is a 4.0.

    I am in Outback Oz,
so generally do largish drives when going out.
The One figure I do remember was 8.3 Litre/100klM - that about 34MPG
I generally fill at the 1000 Kilometre mark - 625 Miles with just under 1/4 Tank remaining.

What's the computer stating for MPG? Get the ECU scanned for faults. Check for binding brakes etc. Service the engine, if not already done.
Is yours the 233hp engine? Mine just returned 56mpg on a steady 70-75mph 120 mile motorway trip. Does 34mpg around town.
