    Hi All,

Some of you might know me as a 2007 2.0TDI passat owner on this forum who has asked a lot of questions and has been very annoying over the past few years in B6 forum.
I am now thinking to move on and become very annoying in this B7 forum lol

I am querying VW to trade-in my current car and grab something else from them (used of course)
I do not know much outside the 1.9TDI and 2.0TDI engines. I know 2012 models have 1.6 engines etc...

Is there any chance you could please point me out on things which I should be looking for when buying a 2012-2013 passat?
Should I consider one at all? Is it a "lucky" model? How often does the car breaks down? Is MPG good at all?

Hope for your honest opinion here guys.

    Thanks,
    Arturs.

    Hi Arturs,

I had a 2005 B6 2.0SE TDi DSG for 4 years(bought 2009), great car and traded it in 2013 while value was still high. No repairs needed 60mpg motorway.

I got a 2012 B7 1.6 TDi S Tech manual , 3 years ago. I really liked this car too, 65 mpg +. Injector failed VW replaced it free. Dashboard failed, again, VW replaced it.
The 1.6 TDi engine was responsive and nippy, car let down by bad seats and though gear change was smooth, I really wanted DSG. Kept it 20 months.

I got my current B7 2.0SE TDi DSG (2011) July 2014. Love it, way more comfortable than S, ICE much better sounding, seats really good, and much nicer finish.
It probably does a bit less MPG than the B6, but the B6 didn't have a DPF. Around 55mpg+

I'd say go for it, better feeling car, I loved my B6, but B7 is a nice step up! I think the ride is better too. It is very quiet.

    Good luck!

Dnt buy the 1.6 or 1.9 diesel, under powered and loads of problems. 2.0 are much better

Yes I hated my 1.6 B7 it was gutless and wasn't very smooth at all, I had it for 5 months and exchanged it for a 2.0 B7 and absolutely love it 3 years on and I still love my B7 comfortable on long journeys and the 2.0 is nippy and powerful when needed . I purchased my 2.0 new and it's only done 26k miles so still running in with mpg improving all the time. Currently Im averaging 51mpg calculated by pen and paper.

Is it me or has a huge part of this thread disappeared? If I am tagged to it why did I have no post here?
