Smart phone interface

How does one know if this is fitted? Poole Audi advised me yesterday that the module is not fitted to my car.

I have the ability to charge a phone with a metal case in the bay between the front seats. If I start Android Auto, it talks to the car and seems to partially work and the salesman at Shrewsbury Audi, from whom I bought the car, said his Apple iPhone worked in this car.

All this suggests to me the issue is with the Android app. However if there is no module fitted, obviously that's the reason. I just don't know how to investigate for the module (unless I can do it with VCDS)

Not sure of the true technical answer but simply looking at the menu screen on MMI. Do you have an option 'Audi Smartphone Interface' just before 'Settings' it's one of the last one

This pic is bad example as it doesn't have it on but it's on this screen

Could be that the sales guy meant that his phone worked over Bluetooth - which it would as music etc or data from the phone can be used without smartphone interface.

As for the wireless charging - that's separate to ASI, that's the Audi PhoneBox or something which from memory was an option (standalone perhaps) but part of the Tech Pack...however I could be wrong on this as again I'm thinking back well over a year.

Finally do you know when your car was built? If it was a MY16 car build pre Oct 2015 it won't have ASI as it wasn't available. It became an option in Oct 15. So between Oct 15 and when MY17 was built it had to be specd as a £350 optional extra.

If it is a MY17 car then it should have it as it then became standard.

My car was built in 2016 which is why I thought I had ASI. However I don't have ASI in the settings. Then again, Andy has said in another thread, that it's a firmware option, so I'll have to do a little digging.

Ragebe.. If you can't see it in the main menu as Nemo states then you don't have it sadly. If you can get Audi to implement it (which I've been told is a no no) then let us know...

No module, all software (firmware) driven.

Now fitted. Shame it only works via USB, as having the phone in the charging box AND connecting a USB cable, doesn't work for the S9+

ASI is working okay, albeit Android Auto doesn't offer much but it has to be via USB.

Maybe misinterpreting this - but is this due to wireless charging and USB charging or something and a safety shut off by phone in USB connectivity?
