The distributor on an AGG is almost benign it the way it behaves, if you don't move it from where it was running it cannot have any effect on running as long as the firing order on the cap is correct. This goes as far as if you disconnect the hall sender plug on the dizzy, the engine will still start and run fine up until 5K rpm. The single most common cause of an AGG stopping is the coil, after that it is the crank speed sensor. Check to make sure you have a spark whilst cranking the engine.

I know it's rookie stuff like but I changed the middle cable on the dizzy going to the coil? I then drove the car a little. It was quite lumpy then just died basically. Forgive me if I'm wrong but if the cables were on the incorrect firing sequence then she wouldn't have started at all?
