My Air suspension on my A8 2005 3.0tdi has been acting a little strange over the last few weeks.

Firstly it may not be related but on three separate occasions (after driving the car fairly hard) at the end of the journey there was a loud noise , sounds a bit like a drill see this link noise - YouTube

The noise occurs even after the engine has been switched off. It lasted around 20 mins and nearly drained the battery. The noise comes from the area where the air compressor is located (front nearside just next to the wheel well)

Subsequently on various occasions over the last few weeks, the amber air suspension light has illuminated intermittently. Each time I have run diagnostics with VCDS and no error codes have been reported.

I am at a loss to understand what is going on here. If anyone can offer any suggestions or share similar experiences I would appreciate it.

    UPDATE:

Amber light came on again today so ran VCDS and now reports the following errors:

So looks like I have a leak somewhere? Can anyone suggest a good Air Suspension specialist in the Cheshire area?

Can't help with a specialist but if you search the A6 C5 forum, a lot of the guys on there have had similar problems and have rebuilt compressors and fitted the bags themselves. They can probably give you some pointers.
Current- A6 C8 40 tdi quattro s line Daytona Grey
    Gone-S3 sportback, A6 C7 biturbo saloon,A4 B 8.5 avant, A6 C6 3.0 tdi Quattro saloon, A6 C5 2.8 Q Avant

I think I read that the relay on the compressor can be shot in most cases too. I would look at that first.
