Awx's numbers are much better than mine.

AVF 130 well maintained, in six years never had more than average 43mpg out of it. Dips in winter to about 40mpg. Motorway at 75 mph and it is under 40mpg, back off to 60 mph and its about 48mpg.

Temp is always flat 90, never over. Service records have an entry before my time for repair of fuel temp sensor, not sure if that has any bearing on things but I decided since everything else is ok I'll live with it.

Cleaned the manifold 4 years ago when I replaced the EGR, better throttle response afterwards but no change in mpg.

    Appreciate the replies.
Is there a fuel temperature sensor on the AWX I could never find one but did wonder?

I have added a diesel injectors treatment (millers) not expecting to make lot of difference but done nevertheless.

The other thing that does not work at the moment is the Air Conditioning. The garage that fitted the clutch ripped the plug out of the AC pump that I fixed but this still is not working.
This must use the CTS to I am guessing but there are no error codes in engine other than instrument cluster reading that I think is the oil temperatures that are intermittent on the gauge.

When you say never over 90 is this just off the gauge or a value in Vag com? Mine has gone up to almost 95 at times but never thought much about it what is 5 degrees !? Its normally around 90 ...I know I am clutching at straws.

Haven't checked it in VAG.COM, changed the thermostat and temp sender maybe 3 years ago, plus coolant, and it sits at 90.

Probably not a bad idea to compare the sender with vag, hadn't thought of it.

I forgot to say most of my driving is motorway, say 80/20.i do keep car around 60/70 mph.
Car driven with mostly only one person
I use dipetane every 3/4 tanks
I think the egr delete definetly added a few mpg,my egr valve was choked up and covering the side of the block in oil
My air con does not work either

Just take your egr of and see what state the inside is in?
