    Hey Lai

Correct, there is a fair bit

The factory LED Clusters that support Dynamic Indicators are:

    4M0 945 093 E (Left)
    4M0 945 094 E (Right)

There is additional wiring back to Module 46 (which is under the fuses in the luggage compartment) but I dont know for sure if that additional wiring harness sorts that or if its a manual cut and splice job to add the wires.

Unsure if there is coding either I'm afraid, its a hunch there might be. I know Ben on this forum is working on it as he has an SE but replaced the rear LED Clusters with those tinted rear light cluster versions which support DI. He might be able to add more info

    HTH

    Hi Guys,

Just guessing here , but the rear indicators on my car dont always sweep,
it depends on what is indicating, ie direction or hazzard or confirmation of something.
So I would think the extra wire is to tell the light to sweep or not ?

Thats not right - it should sweep all the time (Hazard or Indicating or even locking/unlocking..) mine sweep on all of them

You do need a new convenience control unit on an SE to get Factory sweeping indicators.

    Hi Andy,

Haven't explained quite right so this may be clearer.

I am having trouble uploading pics so I will forward them to you via email.

This is from the Audi SSP634:-
" The onboard power supply control unit J519 instructs the central
control unit for comfort/convenience system to activate the turn
signal function. J393 then activates the LEDs for the turn signal
function in the tail lights. An electronic module in the lights
provides for consecutive activation of the LEDs.

As sequential flashing is not desirable in all turn signal modes, a
discrete cabel is routed from J393 to the tail lights. The system
indicates to the electronics in the lights via this cable whether
sequential or conventional flashing is required.|

Conventional flashing is used , for example. for indicating a crash/
collision, an emergency or as a hazard warning after heavy braking.
Sequential flashing , on the other hand, is used for direction indicating,
the manual activated hazard warning lights, central locking
acknowledgement and confirmation of successful programming."

Hope this explains better and may help in sorting out what the extra wire does.

    Keith

Hey Keith, yep that is spot on

But, its confirming what version of J393 you have which is needed to support the additional wire needed. There is an extra wire that runs from J393 to each of the rear lights. If that pin is "missing" on J393, then you need to swap it out for the "highline" version of J393 which contains that missing pin (Pin 11)

Thinking of getting the tinted Blackline tail lights but after reading a few posts on this topic still not sure if the DI will work straight out of the box on an S line manufactured in 2018, can anyone confirm please?

Yep - should be a straight swap if your current rear clusters are DI enabled... unplug old.. plug in new.

You sure? I'm sure all Slines are Dynamic indicators as standard.. At least they were.

There is also the possibility one of your modules in your car needs replacing. J393 as it contains the extra pins for DI in the wiring. But you may also have the right one already
