    Hi Guys,

Would like to start by saying its great to be part of such a great group of enthusiasts. Thanks for having me.

    HELP REQUIRED:

I have just purchased an S-Line Audi A4 B7 2006 for my wife and I need to have the front control arms replaced. (Heavy knock sound when accelerating and braking when pulling away, plus creaking steering wheel when driving slowing and example trying to park) Symptoms pointing to control arms. I have decided to change both sides.

I would like to know if anyone can recommend a tried and tested kit, local garages are stating kits cost around £400 but I see on ebay they are around £150.

Also I have moved to the Shepperton area of Surrey (TW17 8DP) and am looking for a Audi specialist who I could use. Any suggestions?

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Ash

cheap chines made arms can be had for 150, even less. or you can buy a proper set from febi or meyle or lemforder for a lot more that comes with quality arms, sometimes even with the vw part nu,ber removed because they make the ones for vw, and all the bolts you need, and they will last. you certainly get what you pay for.

Agree with Zollaf. I replaced mine with Meyle heavy duty ones and they cost about £330 around 6 years ago. They were still going well about 50k and 3 years later. Some of the cheap ones last months.
I changed mine myself but at the time I had plenty of free time. It took most of a weekend and I needed an angle grinder for some of the bolts.
It may be that you don't have to change the lot just the drop links, lower arms and track rod ends.

make sure you get the kit that comes with the bolt set. i think all febi kits do, as every bolt and but must be replaced. its a good 1/2 - 3/4 day job to do, more if the top pinch bolt wont budge, more if it really wont go and you need to replace the upright. make sure whoever does the job knows how to do it. once done, all the bushes, 8 arm bushes and the arb bushes must be torqued up with the weight on the car, so it needs to be on a 4 poster or a 2 poster but lowered onto some blocks so you then crawl under it, nip them up, lift it again to torque them.
