Thank you everyone for your help!

On Friday I picked up an absolutely superb 4.2FSi which although higher millage is in great condition inside and out. Just a few minor jobs to do to tidy it up but first off plug it into VAGCOM - I'm just waiting for my genuine cable to arrive in the post.
It's got a TPMS error of some sort and I need to fit a towbar.

    I'm a happy man.

Anyone any idea how long it takes to do a straight DPF replacement on a 2009 Q7 3.0TDI 240HP, thanks.

They are relatively easy but can kill your back, one of my ex mechanics was a little, vertically challenged, and he used to climb in the engine bay as with his toes on the floor he could not reach the DPF.

Thanks Crasher, I reckoned on about 2 hours to complete after having a look at the new DPF (£280 delivered) complete with fitting kit, a local Audi chap advised straight swap rather than anything else, says new DPF will outlive the car..

That’s probably a little optimistic taking into account rusty nuts, also I won’t fit aftermarket DPF’s for any reason, only have the originals cleaned or refurbished used.

After market parts are a bit like cheap tyres, until people find out as a couple of examples, that Michelin make Riken and Continental make Matador.

Having said that, I am having 4 Pirelli PZero delivered from Germany for £340, not bad for 19 inch.

Continental make Uniroyal and Barum... when I were a lad the latter had a disastrous reputation... I remember an article in Motor around 1980 on tyres and they simply disintegrated. By the way, Pirelli are now owned by the Chinese state chemicals corporation, Chem China.

Back in the 50’s cars were so much simpler and diesels were for tanks and lorries, the Pirellis will go well with the rest of the Chinese parts on the Q7 built in Slovakia. It is becoming increasingly popular for euro car makers to make/build/source parts from the east, the shutting down of VAG/Merc production due to supplies from the east being cut because of covid-19 is testament to that....anyhow she’s up on the ramp time for the "new" dpf..👍
