Thanks for the reply guys so far, It does looks stunning but I am concerned about that 2.5TDI lump being a money pit TBH.
I know a guy fairly local to me who had one with over 250K on the clock and apart from usual servicing parts it gave him very little trouble. However who knows this engine could have problems to come in the future or maybe not.

Once again, check the service history invoices. There might be some clues there.

Only with the flat tappet engines such as the AKE, the later roller tappet engines don't suffer.

Not sure if it's worth £2k, never mind £3k!

i had exactly the same type of car (AKN engine) but manual 6-speed box - better in my opinion. I did however come with aluminium roof rails, carbon fibre inlays, central arm rest and cloth interior in beautiful dark metallic blue.

Loved that car. The V6 growl was addictive, and would return 44mpg on brisk journeys out with the city. I changed the oil with fully synthetic Castrol Edge every 10k miles, and the fuel filter every 20k miles. Sold it at 173k running as sweet as a nut.

At this age, the DIS is gone, will no doubt have rusty wings, lower door trim corrosion, worn suspension. It's all fixable of course, but if it were me I wouldn't spend more than £1,500 tops.
