Hi new to the forum. People seem helpful on here so I signed up. I have an Audi A4 1.9tdi 2003 she's been good to me but this last week she has shown her age. I have taken it to the garage and it's come up with a misfire on cylinder 1. It is ither the injector or the loom. Is their any way to tell which one as it is quit a price difference between the two. It seems to be ok when warm.

143,000 I plan on taking it to an Audi place for a more in depth scan but it's playing on my mind think I am looking for a glimmer of hope it's just the loom lol.

Will they charge for diagnosis as the loom doesn't always show up ?

Just get the loom , sub £55 , it's not a waste of money at this mileage , a goosed injector is very rare and worst case scenario is a worn camshaft that affects the PD if impeccable servicing and high quality oil hasn't occurred .

Probably will charge I will have to ring them in the morning. The fact I doesn't always show is a handy tip I will bare that in mind. I did nearly say just stick a new loom in. Wish I had now. I did wonder if the problem occurring when cold indicted which it may be. It has been well serviced in fact it only got done a week ago with the mot. One expensive month a week before xamas. :-( thanks for your help. Btw.

It has to be impeccable every time as the incorrect oil or too long an interval starts the wear from where there is no going back .

injector faults are rare. it will most likely be the loom, almost always is. while the cam cover is off they will check the cam lobes as well if you ask them to.

Cool I hope so. Most of the servicing was done by Audi the women that had it before me was good like that. Mine have been done each year with the mot not sure which oil it is but it wasn't cheap stuff I have some left so I will check later. My mechanic is a friend I helped him service it one Saturday so I trust him.
