Hi guys new to the forum. I have a 2002 sharan tdi sl. Recently the car has had electrical issues which i think are all linked.
Firstly the central locking doesnt work at i only have the key no fob if i lock the car from drivers door the fuel cap and drivers door lock and the rest stay open including the boot. But if i am in the car and press the locking button the car locks and unlocks fine
Secondly the dashboard keeps reseting the clock and trip meter, the needles freeze and goes blank until you put the key the ignition and all seems ok again.
The heater pannel doesnt light up nor do the a.c, recirculating
And rear heater buttons work but when the stereo is on they light up and all 3 buttons work again. The stereo is a aftermarket and has been in the car for years but all of these issues started last month is there anything i can check that might point me in the direction to sort it all?
    Thanks shakeel

After bitting the bullet and taking it to volkswagen they have said i need a new bcm module new key and door handles and new ignition lock. With a grand total of £1377.14.the guy also told me it wasnt worth repairing. When i asled what test they had done they told me it didnt need to be pluged into the computer. Does this sound right or are they palming me of?

Quick update turned out to be a 5 amp fuse causing all these issues. Just goes to show what a waste of money VW is you pay them 2 hours labour and they cant check the car. Verry disapointed that a kwikfit tyre fitter could diagnose this but a master tech couldnt.

Which fuse? I have kind a similar problem with reseting the clock and trip meter, after a warning by three time beeping. Sometimes, when the three times beeping occurs, the lights in the instruments cluster turn off, and a warning light comes out for few seconds. Not always the reseting the clock and trip meter happens when the "alarm" sounds.
