Hi im new to the forum , lots of info just can't find what i need hope someone can help.
i Have a 2005 A4 2.0FSI with Halogen low beam head lamps and the front right is not working and showing and error on the dash.
i have replaced the bulb and still have the error .

    Vagcom reads
00979 - Lamp for Low Beam; Right (M31)
00979 - Lamp for Low Beam; Right (M31): Open or Short to Plus

Can anyone let me know where i can download the wiring diagram for this , plenty out there but seem to be for the HID and Xenon configuration i need the wiring for the Halogen.?

Thanks all for any info .

Hmm, before getting into that level, just make sure the bulb is definitely OK - assuming the high beam is OK just swap the bulbs over and check that the fault moves. You could spend a lot of time chasing down a fault which turns out to be a duff new bulb which I have had a few times (of course you may already have done this, in which case best of luck finding the problem).

    Thanks GeorgeE
i have removed plug from the rear of the bulb and get 0v i now need to check the output pin for 12v at J519 when the dipped beam is turned on . Just don't what color wiring goes to the right hand side of the car.

In the back of my mind there is something about if the car thinks there is a faulty bulb it stops sending power to it, I would check with a known bulb to be sure.

Ive got a plan let me know what u think

    1) Check the bulb FIRST (again)

    2) Check that i have continuity between the brown(gnd) on the low beam and the Brown(gnd) on the high beam should be good.

    3) Meter between the output pin T23/22 the wire that connects it to the bulb and Gnd .I should get the resistive value of the bulb plus the wiring ( a few OHMS) if i get infinity i have an open circuit between T23/22 and the connector which plugs into the bulb.

    4) if i get the expected few ohms i need to check whether J519 is sending 12v to T23/22 when i turn on the lights.

    5) Gallon of petrol and an open field will sort it if all else fails.

    What do you think ?

Result , did exactly what i said i was going to do in the above post #5.
The Ground to the bulb was found to be good (checked this from the brown wire at the plug for the bulb to chassis)
Continuity from the T23/22 to Ground (T23 being the plug that goes into J519 and 22 being the Pin responsible for powering the bulb) 3 Ohms when bulb back in circuit ,INF when bulb removed which also confirmed i had the correct wiring.
I then swapped out the module (J519 £10 from Fleabay) and now all working fine , didn't even need to code it as the soft coding was the same value.

Hope this helps someone else with the dipped beam issue.

    Hi easypayer

Just found this post, having same issue in that my RH dipped beam is dead. Bulb is good, fuse is good, no power to the bulb holder. High beam working. Where is the module located?
My thoughts where that it was a control module that was causing an issue.

    Hope you can help

You wont have power to the holder unless a working bulb is fitted, the J519 cuts the power, it is only used (#20) on models with the low line J519. The left bulb is powered from the same circuit on the lowline, separate circuits on the high line so you need to know the J519 part number.

    Hello mate,
The control module is under the dash above the pedals. To get to it u need to remove all the trim and the relays plastic holder.
