Hi everyone.Sorry if this has already been discussed to death but I am just after some info on the above tyre.I've read all the reviews there is to read about the tyre on different website but I just wanted an honest opinion from those of you who've had these especially those with a Quattro. Most important is how many miles did you get out of them???I've been reading about others getting only 6/8k out of these tyres which is not ideal in my situation.
The Avons ZZ5's I now have on the car are due for replacement and I'm just trying to decide between the Goodyear F1 asymmetric and the Michelin PS3.
    Cheers

I have never heard of such poor mileage out of the Goodyears .

Ultra soft Continental , yes .

MPS3 is quite old now and a bit of a touring tyre and superceded by MPS4 which actually outperforms the Super Sport also .

Top draw , top reviews with the tyre tests to match are..

    Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
    Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3
    Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 2
    Michelin Pilot Sport 4

I'm now on my 3rd set of assy 2's on average I'm getting 11k out of a set of 4 that's with a front rear changeover at about the half way mark. It's a 3.0 tdi quattro remapped so puts down alot of torque and i do use it to its potential. And I'm not very light on the loud peddle if your not heavy footed i reckon 15k is possible.

On my quattro MPSS lasted 23k and only needed replacement after I had screws in two of the rears at 4mm, the fronts were unevenly worn.

I will definitely be going for PS4's as these can be had for less than £550 when one of the tyre retail chains does a 25% off Michelin (far cheaper than openeo/black cicles etc fitted

My old GSD3's similarly lasted for 20k, the advantage of the older quattro's is that it's a 50/50 wear, where the later C7 is 60/40 so in our case no tyre rotation needed.

That said I have Winter rubber on for 4 months a year and these last for circa 4yrs, even when buying part-worn with 6mm on when fitted.

Can't wait to get mine back on the road and fit the new Falken Eurowinters I bought for £125 delivered!

Or you could wait for the MPSS replacement in January MPS4S.

    Only if you could gaurantee:

    a) They will be launched when stated
    b) That the required size will be available on launch (they are always limited sizes for the first 6 months)

Thanks everyone for their input.V6quattrogrip this is exactly the kind of info I was after. My driving style is normal with an ocassional blast here and there. However 15k out of a set of tyres is not particularly bad.I had the PS3 on the previous A4 and if I remember corectly they did over 20k but don't know how much they lasted in the end as I sold the car.The cheapest I managed to find both the PS3 and the GF1asy2 is Costco so will probably get either one from them.No doubt they'll both be an upgrade from the Avons I have at the moment which have turned very noisy after almost 13K.
