    Hi

I have just replaced the turbo and electronic actuator on my 2006 VW Touareg 3.0 Tdi and the vehicle is still in limp mode (going through all gears but not enough power). I have read here that I now need the actuator/servomotor needs adaption and cannot be done by VCDs alone. It needs a special tool VAS 6395A. I have rung a few local specialists and none of them has this equipment. Can someone help? Can you recommend anyone who has VAS 6395

    Thanks

I priced one up a few weeks back, it is on an email at work so I can't refer to it but I do remember choking on my coffee and saying something rude. We took the turbo off and gave it to our local turbo people but their system could not do it so we ended up sending it to a specialist in London. They do their own version of the tool, it made the VAG version look cheap!

I guy I bought this Touareg from had been to a few specialists in London and had the turbo reconditioned, throttle body replaced but never completely got rid of the problem. I before buying the new turbo and actuator rang the specialist in London who reconditioned it 200 miles ago and he said the time passed is 12 months so no warranty.
Buying new turbo complete with electric actuator will cost around £1250 plus vat from vw but you can find it cheaper from other parts suppliers online.

Fitting it is altogether another mission. Not every mechanic and workshop will be able to do it. The actuator needs to be positioned and programmed to your Touareg when fitted by this VAS 6395 device. Best to ask that specialist if he has it then drive to him and get it fitted and programmed to your vehicle.

I have been reading on this for last 2 months and so for what I have read tells me there is no alternative or "own version" of VAS 6395 it's a standard device that is a must for replacing turbo or actuator on your Touareg

Today's update.. I had booked the Touareg with VolksWorks in Leeds as they have the VAS 6395. They've not been able to cure the problem although they said they run the diagnosis using the VAS6395A

Sorry haven't updated this for a while. The problem of limp mode didn't go after "the vas 6395 calibration" so we started hit and trial. Blocked EGR with a blanking plate. Changed the vacuum solenoid and manually moved the Actuator to adjust and that seems to have worked.

I have the same question - I think a lot of specialists and even main dealers do not have this tool, and most will want the whole Turbo/Actuator package renewed as a whole....
