    Hi Chris

Apologies for trying to resurrect an old thread but I need your opinion please!
I have an A6 C6 2007 and have the same symptoms as you had. Although I can feel some heat from the dash I have no fans. I have tested the fan unit by pluggin a 12v battery onto it and it spins up fine. I have tried another resistor but this was a used one so unsure if it actually works or not?

if i were you i would buy a new resistor, as this was a common fail the used one could be toast as well ,i replaced blower and resistor as i recall this was not too expensive i got mine from ebay hope this helps

just had a thought .the fault may have to be cleared from onboard computer as it may still think the fault is still there, even after replacing with new parts ,this has happened to me a few times after replacing faulty parts....the glory of modern cars !!
