    ello folks.. been a while

having a slight problem with my s3...
its kinda stuttery/hesitant at the mo...
    [its a 2000 x-reg s3, remapped to 265bhp]

when it hits 2000rpm [around when the turbo's starting to kick in], its all jumpy & jerking around..

my pal suggested checking the spark plugs & leads, when googling the problems other forums are suggesting the ignition coils?

anyone had a similar problem or can hazard a guess at what i might be>!>!>!
[not really very clued up with cars tbhonest.. ]

its seems to be quite sporadic as to when it occurs & has only started happening in the last week or so...[seems to be in the low gears more than anything?!""?!?]

pls help!!! hoping its not going to be a massive problem as i'm skint as foooooook at the mo.. its a few hundred miles overdue a service too, but i'm thinking an oil & filter change isnt the solution...

    cheers in advance peeps!

    M

Paul as you are on a budget start with the plugs as belive it or not they can cause some freakish faults with 1.8 turbo. When you have done them come back and tell us and try and get some fault codes as there a few more exspensive options and some not so.

thers quite a few things that may be affecting the turbo, is the trubo maing any weird noises or making a whistling sound? in any case check the air pipes going to the trubo and away from the turbo as they may be leaking. if not that then may be a more serious problem but check those first.

Hi mate I also have a 2000x S3 and my boost plays up also. It sometimes overboosts to 1.2bar for a few seconds then all of a sudden will drop to 0.35bar and wont boost any higher until i use all of the revs in that gear. Only then will the boost go up again. Unsure of the problem can anyone help? P.s Is the car much quicker with the remap, plannin to get mine done at Jabbasport!

Another possibility is the diverter valve lifting off its seat under boost and venting the boost back into the intake, this is a common problem on remapped 1.8T's. I have just fitted an APR R1 to my Octavia to try and stop this but I haven’t had the opportunity to try it out yet.

glad to report alls good now!

as some of you suggested & from what i read on winternet... it was just the sparkies..

had the service done, sparkies changed, [<by dads pals garage, i'm not bothered about the audi history anymore, the car is 8yrs old...] 2 new front tyres + tracking checked [ok] & the aircon recharged....
feels like a new car ish...

i cant beleive how much the monkeys at an allegedly kwik fitter of tyres said they'd supply & fit 2x 18 in tyres for.... £220!!! each!! they wouldnt just fit my own tyres... idiots!

i'd already bought my usual brand tyres for £65 each & a quick phonecall to a mate of a mate & i'd got them fitted & my aircon cleared & recharged within the next hour or so!
[who was a top bloke running a v.tidy company, i'll be seeing him next time... even wouldve got me my tyres £5-10 cheaper... doh!]

cheers for the advise as usual guys..
time the clean the beaut & go for a spin
