    Hi guys,

Been awhile, hope you all are keeping well.

I don't see this get discussed often in the UK for Q7s so not sure if it is just my car, but the car is making high pitched squeal noise when braking at low speed (slowing down for traffic light, reversing slowly etc), initially I thought it was brake discs and pads getting low, but after changing them, it is still there. I normally have music on with windows closed so it could always be there I just didn't notice, unfortunately it is something once you heard once, you tend to notice it more and more.. With windows rolled down, it is actually quite loud!

I see a lot of discussions about the issue from US Q7 owners (and from owners of other Audi models). There is actually a TSB to address it specifically for Q7.. Dealer will not do anything as this is TSB for the US cars. Could this be a design issue on our UK cars too?

Actually in one episode of the Grand Tour, Jeremy complained about the squealing brakes of a TTRS, quite funny.. maybe it is a generic Audi thing...

Have you guys noticed the same?

Ha I have this and thought same re pads and discs but they are all fine. Even did the harsh braking (in a safe manner) thinking maybe a stone or something lodged in. Basically squeals exactly as you say low speed braking or when reversing slowly.

My 20MY Vorsprung did this from early on. Audi had multiple attempts at ‘cleaning’ the brakes which had limited success. They then gave up and said it was a ‘characteristic’. I got rid of the car.

lol who would want this 'characteristic' - hats off to Audi sales coming up with this excuse... what's the alternative you went for? happy with that? @Crasher will definitely look into getting Brembo brakes when it's time to replace.. thanks!

I find the price of genuine VAG pads obscene BUT they have changed part number, based on the type 4MB 0E1 2017 Q7 we had in yesterday from 4M0 698 151 T to 4M0 698 151 BK at £241.04 and interestingly should be used with a revised "intermediate plate set" 4M0 698 231 A at £11.20. If we were doing it we would fit Pagid T2437.
