SD Card not being read.

Some time ago I changed the Concert head unit in my 2008 B8 for one from a later model which had DAB. I think it came from a 2010 model car.
I've never been able to connect up the aux in lead which the original head unit had, which has been a frustration which presumably might be solved by retrofitting the AMI connections however I tried today for the first time to use the SD slot only to find that it told me that it could not find a readable track.
Is there any particular type of card which I need to use, or will it only read certain types of file?
The file I tried it with is described as an AA file but I don't know what that means. it is an audio book downloaded from Audible which I would usually play through my Iphone.
I'd be grateful for any helpful comments.

To be honest, I've found the SD card reader to be amazingly hit and miss in my 2012 B8 facelift with concert.

I used a 64gb card and it wouldn't read a thing. Then I tried a 32 GB card and it'd see the card but not play tracks. Then, I converted the tracks from AAC to MP3 but even then it'll only play some of them and I have literally no real reasoning as to why some tracks work and some do not.

I know this isn't a great answer but hope it helps.

I've heard the earlier head units were even more limiting on the memory card size but it might be trial and error at this stage.

4gb SD cards working!! you could try this thread with 4gb SD cards of a certain make , not sdhc


it could be you need a slower card speed rather than a really fast and up to date one ...................................... meaning it will be cheaper
