Its not really a fix as such, as it was goosed ......................... but over a few days I noticed a slight lull in power delivery, sometimes hardly any power, sometimes turbo kicking in helped and sometimes it didn't

Cheapest way was to let the fault develop.

This threw up 01032 & 01027 faults , apologies as I use an Autel VAG505 and in the Audi settings, I am sure that the OBD2 codes were different, but alas I deleted the photos. However my VAG505 came up with the same names.

Anyway it was the EGR valve on a 75,000 mile 2.0 tdi . Take off the throttle body and then EGR itself. Unscrew the cover off the motor, take off large white middle motor, turn this upside down and inspect teeth

motor opens small flap.jpgegr number or motor number.jpgmotor.jpgtake cover and see this.jpgmotor closes small flap.jpg

Thats me now opened my old EGR. All cogs ok. All teeth ok. Then opened motor it self. I realized that brushes may not give contact. Worn. So i took them out, sanded little to give even surface. Then bent slightly to make sure that will hold against rotor or how to name it and cleaned that rotor as well. Now just to wait if will come time when i need it again. Or to find out how to test it without fitting to the car.
I dont remember that code but reason was Malfunction - Intermittent. In my opinion exactly what can be caused by bad brushes. Will hope it works now.

Sorry to respond on an old thread. I have the same error codes on my Audi A6 2006 and the check engine light is on. The car has lost most of its horsepower and struggling on the highways. Below is the thread I created for this issue.
Question Check engine light on Audi A6 2006

Does this mean I have to replace the EGR valve?
