Water is coming into the passenger footwell and soaking the passenger side airbag module. The water is entering through the blanking plates on the bulkhead that are there to accommodate a left-handy drive option.
Is there anybody out there who has come across this before and has carried out an effective repair? The location of this blanking plate makes it very difficult to get at.
    Thanks.

I wonder if this is a result of a blocked drain in plenum chamber causing the ingress? Check for pooling water in there first.

Thanks for your reply. I have checked all the areas above the blanking plate and they are all dry. I think the water is coming in off the road when the vehicle is being driven.
I could do with knowing what sort do job it is to reseal this blanking plate.
    Thanks.

It can be very difficult to trace water ingress without pulling the interior to bits. Try hosing car down from windscreen area first, side windows door etc.and keep checking for water. When your sure that area is okay, try another area.

    Thanks Alan,
I will have to remove all the carpets from the passenger footwell and then try hosing the outside. I feel sure it's coming in from the lower bulkhead.
    Cheers.

Anythings possible, but water can get in and run to the most obscure places! I had a Caddy van fully stripped out and eventually found it was the windscreen bonding leaking, but the water can pool in an area away from the actual source.

Hi - I know you say you've checked but have you removed the cars battery and battery holder, these cars are quite bad for the drain hole under the battery getting blocked with junk. If you do find this your problem you can get a plenum chamber cover that covers the whole plenum chamber area and not just a small part of, this would stop further tree crap getting into the area under the battery.
