Upgrading the Allroad.. but what to?!

The Allroad has decided it's time to leave us. It's got the dreaded manifold problem and will be £1500 or so to fix. It's flagged up as time to chop it in, and have ventured to the local Audi dealer.

The questions is, what do I get? We've been offered £7k P/X with all the dashboard lights, which I thought was fairly good, but don't want to feel like I'm 'down grading' in the process.

Drove a 2.0 A4 Avant auto today, which went well. It feels smaller, but more nimble. It was a smooth, although a slightly stiff ride, but it was new, and most new cars will feel fresher than my 10-year-old beast! They didn't have an A6 in stock, so I couldn't try like-for-like.

An S-line A6 Avant is only about £1k more than the same spec A4, so is it worth bothering with the smaller model?
