With reference to the 10 minutes... this says 3 hours.

engine speed sensor replacement - AudiWorld Forums

Do you have a better method for changing the sensor?
That's the crank sensor, that's a pain in the bum but not 3hrs.

The cam sensor you are on about is behind the timing belt cover and is literally a 10 min job.

Remove timing cover and at the top to right is a sensor with a wire clip connector- that's the cam sensor.
It's next the the camshaft sprocket... held on with 2 10mm bolts.

For a faulty cam sensor you get the p0341, so I'm not totally convinced but pls keep me posted as I'm intrigued.

    Cheers

Misspelled or wrong thought in my head I guess but It's the cranck sensor I have been recommended to change. I have found a few quite similar cases where this have helped.

What do you think? Can this be it or do you still doubt it?

Will try that at first opportunity and keep you posted.

All you can do is try it and see, hopefully the source is correct.

    You got any other symptoms?
Such as rich fuel smell etc

I would of thought the engine coolant temperature sensor would of given you the the stalling situation more than a crank, as these can trick the ecu when these go wrong and go undiagnosed.

usually with either you will get a rich calculator of fuel and sometimes even an o2 sensor code to suggest rich or lean air to fuel ratio.

When you say it like that. The car have provided a higher sense of perfume lately. I say perfume as it smells more like an air refresher than fuel.

Other than that the car runs smoothly and nice with no symptoms

I have now replaced the crank sensor. If this takes 3 hours (http://www.audiworld.com/forums/tt-m...ement-1936241/) for you in a Audi TT 1,8T 8N3 then you are deadly slow but I guess it helps to get the car up in the air. Didn't even remove the oil filter and not an drop of oil was spoiled. The job was easy and took less than one hour and if I should do it again I would use half that time.

So to the repair. With the new sensor the car did run perfectly for 1 hour varied driving. No problems and it seems to run cleaner as well (less "fat").

Easy fix which hopefully solved the problem. Thank you very much for the help!
