That should be the setting I'm using now as I've not changed it.

What firmware version are you using? Might be worth checking you're not on a really old one if you've not updated since you got it?

I'm using the latest one but didn't have issues with the previous one either.

I did buy a battery charger that supposedly takes the battery through a 6 step care and charge cycle. I did use that back around November time as I'd not use the car for several days. I think it takes 24 to 36 hours to do a full cycle.

I bought it for my X5 as was always running the battery too low through excessive use of the aux heater

Might be worth trying one out just in case it's the battery playing up rather than the dash cam?

Cool tips, awesome, a agree I can Not see firmware making a huge difference to battery draw, so where could I possibly get these battery charger units halfords or similar?

    Thanks srb..

I ordered mine from Amazon as I'm lazy and love Prime

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FC42H...986871_TE_item

I can't remember but I would imagine I bought this one as it was recommended in some Autoexpress test. There may be better ones that are cheaper, but it definitely does the job.

I had a play with the cut off voltage and it wasn’t a good idea! Had lots of warnings after a few days and thought I’d set it back to the original voltage but was still giving occasional warnings about the parking brake.

Just checked my screenshots on this thread and it wasn’t 12.1 but 12.2 so just corrected. Hopefully back to normal now!

Well that goes against what is recommended on Dashcamtalk by, I think, a re-seller, who recommends that 12V and has had no reports of problems. I thought about it but I'm definitely leaving mine on 12.2V. In my A7, this time of year, I get about 6 hours before it turns off. Which is a bit short for the works car park. I'm going to try time lapse mode to see if that draws less juice than the motion detection

I set it down well below 12. Can’t remember exactly but that’s when I got loads of errors! Since setting back to 12.1 initially, I got the parking brake warning occasionally.

It’s possible that the parking brake warning is unrelated but I’m not sure it is. Will see if it goes away over the next week or so.

I have mine on time lapse and can usually get a full day parked at the station even with my short trips - approx 11 or 12 hours parked.

I think you’re right about the temperature having an impact though. When I parked at the airport recently, it didn’t get anywhere near 48 hours of time lapse despite a 90 minute journey beforehand.

It’s easy you just download the update files for firmware or camera DB, put them on the micro SD card then it reads them in when next on. It’s not very verbose in doing so but you can check the versions in the mobile app afterwards.
