    Hi all,

I have a 2005 A4 convertible and have a problem with my radio reception (either weak or none at all).

I have done a bit of homework and this is apparently a common problem as the aerial boosters are attached to the boot lid and the wires deteriorate and stretch over time.

I have had a local guy look at the car and he has given me the fault codes but is not confident enough to try and attempt the repair - it would appear that the problem may be with the head unit or maybe the loom that runs from the front of the car to the back.

I live in SG5 (Herts/Beds border) - does anyone know of a sparkie or radio specialist who has had experience of this problem, knows these cars and sort it for me?

I am happy to pay someone to fix the problem but not to stand there and scratch his head like the last Guy!!

    Many thanks in advance!!

Hi. We have an '03 A4 cabrio and had the same problem. I found the problem myself and fixed it myself too. It turned out to be a broken aerial lead where they go into the boot. If you pull back the rubber cover you'll probably find the culprit.
It is a bit tight there and not too much spare wire to play with but do-able.
Start by putting your radio on, then wiggle those wires travelling into the boot to see if it makes it work/not work.

    Hi there,

I haven't had the car long and the previous owner has done what you've suggested and replaced parts of the wires going in to the aerial. The fault codes that the car is showing relate to the earth connection for the aerial and an issue with one of the connections coming out of head unit, hence that is why I need a sparkie familiar with this car and this issue.

Thanks for the advice though - it's much appreciated.
