    Hey Guys,

With winter setting in, I'm wondering about headlights, output and upgrades for my 54 B5.5 Wagon....

Would be nice to have a bit more intensity. I find my lights are too "soft" in the dark... headlights have just been restored to pass MoT so clear enough...

If possible I would like to avoid a HiD kit as the standard projectors aren't designed for this. Halogens focus from a single point where xenons don't so far as I know, I have heard plenty of good results from them in B5.5 projectors, and given the amount of idiots I'm blinded by with them in reflector headlights I'm struggling not to join the club now tbh...

So, can anyone shed any light on H7 Led bulbs? Like halogen they produce light from a fixed point? Are they any good or a waste of money? Fan or fanless etc.

    Cheers for any insight

    Aidan

try some osram nightbreakers or philips extreme vision. same buls just brighter. you could also do the relay wiring trick, so 12v straight to relays then to bulbs rather than going through the lightswitch , so you avoid voltage drop.

I did not like driving mine with standard H7 halogens , bloody dangerous , they should be discontinued...

HID in the projectors has been done with success for years .

LED good too with fanless being the most recent design .

Less lumen output is the performance halogens with Osram Night Breaker Unlimited +110% and Philips X-treme Vision +130% , both will serve you well .

Both have been updated with Osram Night Breaker Laser +130% and Philips RacingVision +150% but offer no value for money as the Osram is a marketing trick that offers no improved light output on a H7 and the Philips has less than half the life of the old Xtreme Vision .

I'm currently on Phillips extreme vision now but still not overly impressed. Tried nightbreakers but can't see the difference between them and the extreme vision. Im trying to justify spending the money on some decent fanless led ones and trying them? Will they be any better you think or no good?

    Cheers for info btw guys.

Well that's encouraging. Don't suppose you have a link to some? Or just pick off eBay? Loads on there.

Kelvin colour is on the blue side and will make your sidelights look silly .

But get some led 501 sidelights anyway .

    4300K - 5000K is best and more car manufacturers oe K .

For standard bulbs try ring xenon 130. Better than the osram and Phillips mentioned in my opinion
