This is my first post so I hope it makes sense to you all.

Around 2 weeks ago my 55 plate golf developed a problem, the drivers door completely shut down - The central locking stopped working by fob, windows not working, couldn't open fuel cap etc. First thoughts was security and filling up, I figured out how to lock all doors by key and managed to open the fuel cap.

So now along with the above my dash is telling me the drivers door is open all the time, I have also got quite a few warning lights on - ABS, ESP, airbag, bulb out, power steering, doors open, these are on all the time and are all amber, once I have been driving for a short while I get 3 loud beeps and the brake fluid light flashing red and then stays on.

I have had it to a garage to check fault codes, it came back with front ABS sensors not working, rear fog lights not working, no communication from the drivers door, all 4 spark plugs faulty, faulty airbag (I have all the codes if there any help but not got them with me as I'm writing this).

I've done the obvious and checked fuses with no faults found, I am thinking this could be an issue with the wiring/connectors some where or a fault with the convenience unit?

Has anyone had similar issues? Or able to provide any advice on locating and resolving this?

Any help or advice would be massively appreciated!

Open the drivers door and look at the hinges, you will see a rubber pipe that covers wires leading into door. Peel that back and see if wires are broken or feel for lumps in wires indicating broken wires

Then look in the area below windscreen called the scuttle / plenum chamber for water. This is the area between engine and cabin. This is known for leaves etc to block the drain holes leading to water going in electrical boxes and into front floor footwells below dashboard ,is carpet damp as well ?

    Then report back

    Thanks for posting Niall

Ive checked the wires going into the door, all look fine, no signs of anything to worry me

ive checked below the windscreen and its full of leaves etc, would you advise to investigate this area further?

theres no signs of any dampness to the carpet though

    thanks

I would clean all leaves from the scuttle area and gently hose the area to get rid of all the dirt and grime

Then I would peer in any electrical boxes to see if there is any green gunge indicating water ingress

I think then you have to get it scanned by a VW specialist or someone with VCDS

Its just too many problems , all at once ;so clean the scuttle area and rule out the water.

    Then check engine wiring loom

One thing is that when you do a scan, you do pick up things like spark plugs not working that don't actually bring up the engine management light

    check earth straps etc
