    Hi all,

Im looking for the sequence (or just a simple way) to reset the ecu on my car. So all the warning light will go off and check if they will come back.

I found this online but its for a different vw i think and it look like a joke too :s

    RESETTING THE ECU
    1) Remove Neg - off battery for 3 minutes.
    2) Leave drivers door open and reconnect battery.
    3) Leave bonnet open and switch car ignition lights on ( ANOTHER 3 MINUTES) DO NOT START THE CAR.

When the times is up remove keys put keys back in car and start car.
This will removal all error codes on vags and audi's unless its Crash data will can only be removed by vag coms.

    Cheers

    Welcome to VWAF

Simplest way to reset any codes is to disconnect the cables from both battery terminals and touch them together.

Ensure you have any radio codes that may (or may not) be lost though.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

    Well that sounds easy!! Thanks!

I never had a VW before so I have no idea what the codes are or if I need codes! How do I check that?

The car is an 2006 1.2S model (it has move valves I think and 65hp, from 55).
The radio/cd player in stock (it suppose to play mp3CDs if that makes a difference!)

I find it helps if you wear a see through rain mac, no clothes underneath whilst dancing around in pink wellies chanting an ancient tribal rain prayer. ECU codes can only be cleared using diagnostic equipment, they are stored in non volatile memory.

In the manual you should have a radio code. Sometimes, but not always, when you disconnect the battery the radio goes into SAFE mode and can only be unlocked by entering said code.

Chances are you won't need it, but....
