Hi to you all, new member here.

Apologies if this has been previously addressed, my 2016 q7 3.0tdi quattro MMI screen seems to be stuck down (in the dash).

Ive tried the "3 finger" Reset, disconnected battery etc with no luck.

I managed to remove the plastic shroud around the display and can see that the screen is on. so I assume some sort of mechanism failure?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    TIA.

There was a repair video I saw where they changed the plastic gear which moves it up and down. Can't remember where it was but it may have been on an A6 or A8. Try googling it.
Current- A6 C8 40 tdi quattro s line Daytona Grey
    Gone-S3 sportback, A6 C7 biturbo saloon,A4 B 8.5 avant, A6 C6 3.0 tdi Quattro saloon, A6 C5 2.8 Q Avant

Thanks for the reply, I've had a look at the A8 MMi screens having the same issue, but this seems to be a totally different mechanism, also on those you can hear the gears "grinding" when broken.

Mine is completely non reactive, I've been through the fuses and all seem to be ok. I have made a booking with auto-electrician for tomorrow, thought maybe im missing something easy/obvious.

Ill keep posted on what he finds.

How did you get on with this. I have a 2016, looking over my service history it had the screen mech replaced at around 18 months old. Have you had a coolant loss issue, mine has developed such at 47K still undiagnosed to date (see my other thread)

Apologies, I only saw this last post now.
So I eventually managed to do a warranty claim. I have an extended warranty which I took out when I bought the car (second hand) and after a bit of a fight, I had the MMI screen and controller replaced at the dealer under warranty.
    I luckily haven’t had a coolant loss issue 🤞🏻
