    Good Morning chaps and chappettes,

Just a quick question really, what are the mechanical differences between the AWX and the AVF? As far as I was aware they were identical, with a different standard map to suit the AWX given the smaller clutch and flywheel/5 speed box.. Is this correct? If there's is any differences other than an ECU, what are they?

Apologies if this is yet another thread about these engines, but I can't seem to find the specific answer I'm looking for.

    Kind regards
    Aidan

Cheers Gaz, That's what I thought. I ask, because a tuner I have been talking to regarding mapping etc and differences between the two engines is telling me I can't get mine (AWX) on par with a mapped AVF, as the AWX starts with 285nm and the AVF 315nm... This is obviously theoretically ignoring the clutch issue. They state that the AWX has different injectors to the AVF and as such, isn't up to it....

Yeah that's what I had researched. Don't want to push engine that hard tbh, not yet. But I wanted to get the same torque output and power as a mapped AVF putting out say... 20-25% extra.. May be looking into a fmic as mine needs replacing next year along with all the boost pipes (getting old) and EGR/CAT mods...

Yeah I did wonder if it's worth the extra expense to have had the parts pre picked? I assume there is some custom tubing in there from dark side I guess... Haven't decided yet. Do they really make that much difference?

I'm sure they do - colder denser oxygenated air, not needed at Stage 1 although mine is 180 bhp , benefits for sure , but essential at Stage 2 with a BV43 .

Need to add a point here regarding tuning.

    There are differences in injectors.
Some come with 520cc and some with 550cc

My Audi AVF has the BA(520cc) injectors and they can’t go past 200bhp

    Good info , 30cc isn't alot but obviously essential for BV43 .

Initial logic would have AWX with 520 and AVF 550 because of the extra torque mapping.

Any non removal way to tell what one has ?
